Jim Cavanaugh contributes a lifetime of governmental experience. A 1976 graduate of Fordham University with a B.A. in communications, Jim began his political career as Director of Communications for the Westchester County Legislature, where he was responsible for developing the Legislature’s annual state legislative package. He later served as communications director for Senator Spano.
He also served for ten years as the Supervisor of the Town of Eastchester, where he regularly worked with county and state leaders in his capacity as President of the Westchester Municipal Officials Association and President of the Westchester-Putnam Association of Town Supervisors. Jim has significant experience in assembling diverse interests to focus on common needs.
More recently Jim served five years as President of the Battery Park City Authority in lower Manhattan. In this role he worked closely with state elected officials who represented the Battery Park City neighborhood, such as Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senator Daniel Squadron, as well as New York City Council members, Community Board #1 members, and local business interests.
